[...] Then I headed into the city to prepare for tomorrow’s expedition — a return to Richmond Park, which I visited last fall. Last time I got pretty disoriented and ended up seeing less than I wanted — so today I stopped in at a camping store on Holborn and picked up a cheap compass and a wind-up torch (just in case); then I continued on to the 24-hour internet café near Tottenham Court Road and printed off a park map. Comics was open (it wasn’t) so I went to Forbidden Planet instead, and was pleasantly surprised to find that their indie/alternative shelves have been completely redone and are much easier to browse. Still, my indie-snob heart twinges to see the lovely comix that, back home, stand proudly in their very own spinner rack, here languishing in darkness on the bottom shelf of a bookcase. Picked up Love & Rockets: New Stories. Wheeee! [...]
