Anoko- While we were there, the Review wasn't on (they were touring) so it never occurred to me that they might be a tour group... But I guess it'd be much easier to go behind the scenes without the actual production running. Thanks for the insight!

Well, the "40 Helens Agree" picture. . . I really think that's a fangroup on a tour together. They're kinda. . . obsessive.
Simon is quite right, the mystery handprints belong to Sharaku. ^_^

Thanks for the gorgeous photos! I love the Tezuka museum! By the way, English translations of the exhibit are also available at the front desk, but for some reason they don't always get offered to you.

[...] Nothing to do with webcomics, per se, but check out Christopher Butcher’s visit to the Tezuka Museum; I was lucky enough to visit almost five years ago, but there’s been some really cool additions since then. Most notably: a pile of 150,000 sheets of paper (which represents Tezuka’s lifetime output), and Tezuka’s actual desk, which you can sit at. [...]

Thanks for posting these great pics! I went to the museum a few times in 2003, when I was living in Osaka--- it's basically like Mecca for manga nerds.

If you can believe it, the highlight of visiting Takarazuka city ended up not being the Tezuka museum (SHOCK!) but getting to see an actual Takarazuka productions and go backstage to meet the stars. They were all like 6' tall and more majestic than any spandex amazon you could dream up.

anyway--- YES! Takarazuka City = imaginationland. Thanks for the post!!

My maths is probably off, but at a conservative rate of one page per day, it would take over four hundred years to catch up with Tezuka-san's lifetime output.

Better get cracking!

That museum is awesome. Tezuka's desk... and you're invited to sit down... step right up, one and all, and try to draw the legendary sword from the stone. :) Magnificent.

So many more photos still to come. The ROI for this trip has to be a record-setter.

I think the second set of hand/footprints belong to Hosuke Sharaku from Mitsume ga Tooru. The cross is actually two bandages covering up a third eye on his forehead.
