I’ve read the first 14 books of berlin by Jason Lutz and I’m hooked. Is there anyway I can continue reading this Story?

Jason: I don’t think I’ve got it in me to come up with a top 5, but I religiously buy anything by Taiyo Matsumoto, Jiro Taniguchi, Tatsumi, most of the Tezuka, Nausicaa by Miyazaki, Secret Comics Japan… Geez. I’m liking Umezu a lot, and I’m working through some Japanese releases by PALEPOLI creator Usumaru Furuya (sp?). If we’ve still got it in stock, I recommend his SHORT CUTS gag manga, they’re really surprisingly good.

Alvin: Yeah you did, I totally forgot about that. My boss Peter has loved Hayashi’s stuff since he lived in Japan in the 80s. I heard through the grapevine that there might be more work on the way from that time-period as well? :) The French are kicking our asses with historical manga.

GREAT news about Red Elegy. I dunno if you remember, but I think I mentioned that one to you and/or someone at D&Q way back when, as something “out there” that needs to be brought over. There’s some crazier stuff by Hayashi too…I need to show you some time.

Chris, Since you say of Tatsumi’s work that “This is in the top 5 for â€˜best manga available in the English language.’”, would you mind giving your opinion of what the other four would be? I don’t mean to put you on the spot, I’m just genuinely curious as to what other manga I should read. As you know, I’ve just been slowly trying different manga, really only enjoying the Vertical Inc Tezuka books (and what’s this about Vertical publishing Black Jack? I missed that announcement!When?)and Junko Mizuno. So what are those other manga I should read. (And I share your feelings for Ron Rege. I can see why people like his work, but it doesn’t really engage me.)
