The color editions of Bone are the highest-circulating items in my preK-8th grade school library. Kids from 2nd grade on up are reading them. My own son, who is 13, started reading Bone in black and white when he was 9 years old. He prefers the color editions. Francoise and Art were very market-savvy when they urged Smith to go with color editions of Bone.

An aside: I wonder why Francoise and Art urged Jeff to do a colour version of Bone?

I can only imagine it would be marketing reasons? But manga sells pretty well in black + white.
