I've been drawn to comics from when my Dad read the coloured Sat. issue that came with the newspaper. I was 3 yrs.then and I always read the comics in the Globe as my first AM reading . Sadly they have very few strips these days. My favorites are Pooch Cafe, Fisher and Overboard. They are clever, up to date and never violent, explicit or vulgar. There's always a smile.
I've lived in Toronto all my life but did not know about the Beguiling Bookstore. I heard Chris this AM on CBC Toronto just a few minutes ago. Thanks

"Traditionally superhero movies have had little-to-no effect on comic sales of related comics"

I also think the reason that graphic novels made into films ~ like 300 ~ sell more of their source material is that they are usually stand alone volumes or series that are based on a single vision. Once you get into a franchise like a Superman or X-men ~ the subjects' focus gets refracted through the interpretation & stylings of many different authors/artists. They are treated more like novels than comics in that regard.

Good luck with Free Comic Book Day & Keep spreading the good word! :)
