Hey everybody! I just posted The Beguiling’s Free Comic Book Day wrap-up at: http://www.beguiling.com/2008/05/free-comic-book-day-2008-wrap-up.html.
We had a good year this year despite some pretty awful weather, and though I don’t have exact figures I’d say that we had at least 600 people through both events over the course of the day, and a lot (at least 200 of them) were under 14. Mission: Accomplished.
Because my site gets way more traffic than The Beguiling’s site, I did want to take the opportunity to send you to visit the online homes of all of our participating artists at this year’s FCBD events. They were really stars, drawing and sketching all day (many of them without any breaks) and sending you to check out their work is the least I can do.

Blog@Newsarama » Free Comic Book Day will not die! says:
[...] Several retailers have reports from their shops, including Chris Sims, Chris Butcher, Mike Sterling (here and here), Brian Hibbs and our own Carla Hoffman, who also wants you to know she’s seen Iron Man. Both Johanna and Atomic Romance hit multiple stores. Creators reporting on their Saturday include Evan Dorkin, Jeff Parker and Faith Erin Hicks, who did sketches: No requests to draw Venom or Iron Man, thank goodness. I think I kind of lucked out with that, because I was seated beside this guy who drew in a very superhero-y style (his name was Matt and he did trading cards and I’ve forgotten his last name, dur), so he got the “hey, can you draw Spawn?” requests, and I got to laugh and laugh and be glad I didn’t have to draw Spawn. Spawn sucks! I got several requests for Wonder Woman, one for Aquaman (I made him very hot, it was fun), one for Superman, one for Death and most of the requests were actually for Zombies Calling or Demonology 101 characters, which was fantastic. I was really surprised. A couple of people even brought in their ZC books for me to sign. Very cool. It all went by very quickly, and before I knew it, the whole thing was over and stuff was being packed up. [...]
