Hi there,

I wanted to let you know about Comix Influx (http://comixinflux.com), a new(ish) website dedicated to the collaborative translation of comics - essentially, it's a wiki for comics translations. Readers of all language abilities are encouraged to contribute, and there is an email list (at http://tinyurl.com/5mova8) for the discussion of foreign-language comics in general. We only show the text from comics, not the art, and so it is only useful to people who have the comic already.

No-one has embarked on a translation of anything by Fabrice Neaud yet, but he is definitely up there on the wish-list. If anyone felt moved to start working on The Journals it'd be really great.

Please check-out the site, and do join in if you feel inclined.

Thanks,

Stephen.

[...] Speaking of TCR, columns, and matters of taste, Chris Butcher has rounded up the most-requested items from that Five for Friday thread and added some thoughtful commentary. This should stop me from trying to squeeze a column out of the subject, but it probably won’t. [...]

Yay! You back me up on Neaud's Journals and Konig, which I put on Tom's list. I don't know why Konig hasn't caught on here more-- he's so bloody funny. And the lack of availability of Neaud's Journals in English makes me so sad -- my French isn't NEARLY good enough to parse most of it, but what I can make out makes me think I need to take French lessons, just so I can understand more.

Thanks for doing the calculations and for the commentary. And a big, loud "Seconded" on the Complete Journals. I've been wanting that since I read Neaud's piece in Japan.

I think I am missing part of your point on the Sugar & Spike thing - is it that retailers want the Sugar & Spike reprints because retailers are themselves collectors and want that material reprinted for themselves, or do retailers want it reprinted because they think it can sell to a wider audience than the type of fans who usually vote in those Archive / Showcase Presents polls?
