Hi there form Midpoint Trade Books. We're the U.S. distributer for Azuma's Disappearance Diary. It's available online at Amazon right now (at a much cheaper rate I might add).

I have to say that I'm particularly excited about this graphic novel and agree with Mr. Butcher's assessment. Thanks for reading guys!

I am super excited about this; I've been a Hideo Azuma fan since the mid-1980's, when I first saw his cute girl art in the Japanese edition of Amazing Beauty Pulp (a cute retro-sci-fi adventure, with nothing naughty in it). He's clearly a huge influence on Junko Mizuno's cute girl character designs. I've gotta get this book!

[...] Reviews: There’s lots more to come, but here’s a start. Christopher Butcher has started posting reviews on Tuesdays, and so far he has posted thoughtful discussions of Disappearance Diary and vol. 1 of Black Jack. At Comics Worth Reading, Johanna Draper Carlson recommends vol. 10 of Nana but is less impressed by vol. 9 of Beauty Pop and the online version of Princess Ai: Encounters. Deb Aoki checks out vol. 1 of Blank Slate, vol. 1 of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Future Lovers, vol. 1 of Sola, and vols. 1 and 2 of Black Lagoon at About.com. Dave Ferraro reads vol. 1 of Me and the Devil Blues at Comics-and-More. [...]

I had been intending to buy this anyway when, on a weekly visit to my local comics shop, I happened to look on the new release shelf and saw it there. I swooped over, snagged it, and cried, "Mine!" Of course, after that thrilling instant of acquisition, I have not yet made time to read it. My to-read pile is quite enormous, though, so at least it's in good company.

[...] “There are three or four companies now that exist for the sole purpose of creating not comics, but storyboards for films. It may be true that the only reason the comic book industry now exists is for this purpose, to create characters for movies, board games and other types of merchandise. Comics are just a sort of pumpkin patch growing franchises that might be profitable for the ailing movie industry.” Meanwhile, back at the Beguiling, Chris Butcher has a review of Hideo Azuma’s Disappearance Diary, published by Fanfare/Ponent Mon and released in the U.S. over the summer.
Yeah I have wanted this book for like months but haven't been able to find a copy anywhere in New York which seems - perplexing - until I realize that Fanfare/PM has some of the weirdest distribution of any publisher. Back to the hunt!
