[...] Black Jack Vol 1 by Osamu Tezuka (Vertical): I picked this up last week after seeing Chris Butcher’s review, but it’s on the shipping list this week, so who knows?
Once again the sheer craftmanship of Vertical's releases leaves me in awe. The hardcover is a true sight to behold. For any fans wanting to learn more about Tezuka and his works, check out the forums at http://tezukainenglish.com

I saw originals of this series on the wall at the Tezuka museum when I was there and I made a note to check it out when it got translated, so I'll def be picking this one up.

I enjoyed your well-researched review tremendously. The only Tezuka I have read thus far is Dororo, which I found to be the most accessible because of the shounen adventure feel to it. Perhaps that's why I'm so excited to read Black Jack (I have been pestering my comic shop proprietor all week about whether we were successful in acquiring one of the limited edition hardcovers) when I've had MW and Ode to Kirihito sitting in the to-read pile for many months now.
