TONIGHT! and Saturday Morning at 10am.

Evangelion 1.0, the first of four feature-length remakes of the Neon Genesis Evangelion tv series/movies, is screening tonight at 7pm across Canada, at more-or-less every Cineplex Odeon or Empire Theatre. There’s another screening Saturday morning at 10am as well.

As you might have figured, I’m a bit of an Evangelion nerd, and so I am going to this tonight. And maybe Saturday too.

More info at: http://www.cineplex.com/events and http://www.empiretheatres.com/evangelion.

See you there!

Just got back from the show – I really enjoyed it! Graphics of the movie were great and the handling of the material very faithful to the original while stilling feeling pretty fresh. The atmosphere of the movie-goers was fantastic too, almost entirely sold out and everyone was very enthusiastic (and behaved on top of that). Lots of fun was had :) Hope everyone else can say the same!

I really liked it a lot, too. I had heard they made Shinji less whiny than the TV show but I didn’t find that to be the case at all. Tokyo-3 looked amazing and I loved hearing the status reports on the Evas in English. I am not the kind of guy that HATES ALL DUBS but some of the voices were a bit grating. Can’t wait for 2.0!

Yeah, I totally enjoyed it… I think I might be a die-hard subtitles guy, though the voice cast did alright in general.

Did they downplay the “masturbating to 13 year old girls in bondage suits” aspect of the original series?
