Kanji Of The Year: New

The official Kanji of the Year for 2009, as chosen by The Japanese Kanji Proficiency Society? Shin, or ‘New’. Chosen for lots of different reasons, it feels like a lot the end of the last decade was on people’s minds the world over… particularly in Japan where the ruling party since WWII was swept from power!
