It’s the opening animation to the Parappa The Rapper anime from 2001, courtesy of gaming blog Kotaku. It’s so, so good. It’s like a more Japanese Jamiroquai or something. Yay!

that’s the coolest thing i’ve seen all morning ;]
Holy shit, I didn’t even know that existed. I can’t believe no one has licensed that…
It reminds me of those wicked old opening animations from the late 70’s early 80’s. I’d totally watch that show.
That was THE SHIT. It also reminds me how awesome that original game for the PS One (and its cracktastic sequel, Um Jammer Lammy) was in the first place. Also awesome: Gitaroo Man and its respective soundtrack for PS2 (re-released on PSP, I think). Before all the kids these days started jumping around like maniacs for the new-fangled DDR, we used nothing more than our fingers to pretend we had rhythm.
Probably two reasons why we haven’t gotten the Parappa anime…
1. there hasn’t been a game in that series in a while
2. the anime is pretty mediocre ( link: http://www.animefringe.com/magazine/01.07/reviews/3/index.php3 )
