Have you read Pictures For Sad Children? I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it before… it’s not even on my sidebar, actually, which is a terrible oversight. It’s an expertly produced, visually minimalist and emotionally overwhelming comic strip that’s funny in a way that makes you reconsider your life. It’s almost at the end of it’s current arc, but it is so good that I recommend you begin at the beginning and work your way through.
I was reminded to post about this because the author, John Campbell, has begun updating his “hourly comics” again for the month of January. Just like it sounds, John draws a two-panel comic strip once an hour, every hour that he’s awake, about what he’s been doing that hour. It’s on a 24 hour delay to allow space for scanning and etc. So far? Very good. It’s kind of like he took every half-assed “criticism” about how autobio comics are naval-gazing and boring and sad, and told those “critics” to go fuck themselves by showing how one person’s day can be fantastic, whether banal or exciting or angry or anxious or, most often, funny.
