It’s time again for the WIZARD ADVERTISER AWARDS!

albawizard.jpgHEY THERE, CITIZEN! It’s time for you to once again for you to participate in the democratic process: Which Of Wizard’s Advertisers do YOU like the best!? Marvel? DC? Uh… Marvel?

THE WIZARD ADVERTISER AWARDS!

Do you like Marvel or DC? You’ve got lots of choices! Was Brian Michael Bendis the best writer of the year for New Avengers? Or maybe Geoff Johns for Infinite Crisis? Best books, and therefore best writers? Of the year. Clearly.

Do you like Invincible? Cool! Why not vote for Invincible‘s colorist or letterer as best of the year? What, you wanna vote for the writer or the artist or even the character? No deal, fanboy! IT’S THE WIZARD ADVERTISER AWARDS!

The Walking Dead is elligible for best series of the year, but none of the creative team is. Seriously, Kirkman isn’t even up for Marvel Zombies, which is also nominated.

No, seriously though. Who is your favorite publisher? Is it Marvel or DC? Or, you know, Image, or maybe Dark Horse? Those guys got a few nominations in other categories. Maybe your favorite publisher is Oni (not, say, Oni Press, like their name)? I mean sure, not one other nomination for Oni or any of their talent can be found on the ballot, but you can totally vote for them for best publisher… I dunno. I dunno WTF. Oni for best publisher for, apparently, no books. IT’S THE WIZARD ADVERTISER AWARDS!

Vote for your favorite Video Game, DVD, or TV Show! Maybe you’re a big fan of the “Sexy Slave Leia Statue (Kotobukiya)“? Well it’s your chance to vote! You can’t complain if you don’t vote, so get out the vote! ROCK THE VOTE! CRY INTO YOUR KEYBOARD WHILE CLICKING RADIO BUTTONS ON A WEBPAGE.

  1. I’m confused…

    FAVORITE COMIC MOVIE PROJECT

    V for Vendetta (Warner Bros)
-based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.

    X-Men: The Last Stand (Fox)
-based on the X-Men comics published by Marvel comics.

    Art School Confidential (Sony)
-based on a short story and written by cartoonist Dan Clowes.

    Superman Returns (Warner Bros)
-based on the Superman comics published by DC Comics.

    Casino Royale (MGM)
-I’m drawing a blank. Didn’t Gold Key once publish a James Bond adaptation or something?

    -Steve!

  2. I guess including Oni on the ballot fulfills this month’s requirement of “indy cred.” You know, just in case someone actually notices that they’re a bit biased towards certain publishers…
And for the record, anyone who immortalizes Slave Leia in porcelain gets my vote, regardless of whatever other fanboy crap is nominated.

  3. Hi Chris!

This is Kiel over at Wizard. There were some folks over at The Beat discussing this, and I thought I’d repost here what I told them about our award nomination process:

I just thought I’d drop in to note that the majority of the nominees are culled from suggestions from our readers over at the Wizard site. In a few of the categories where we received a smaller field of nominations, the staff at the magazine added in some of our own personal favorites (which is where I believe both the Oni nod and the Roger call out came from, amongst other things). With that in mind, I don’t think it comes as a surprise to anyone that the majority of fans’ nominations fall pretty closely in line with the Marvel and DC product that sells well in the Direct Market.

As for eligibility, anything that came out in 2006 could be nominated (if it’s a miniseries, then the final issue had to ship in ‘06). We started the nomination process in early February, but don’t do the voting until now because we like to give the awards out at the Wizard Chicago convention. And I know that some of the tangential categories aren’t direct comics tie-ins, but the general view here is that if you went to see V For Vendetta, Superman Returns, Art School Confidential and X-Men 3 in the theater this year, you cared about Casino Royale as well.

If you have any other questions, give me a shout!

    Thanks!
