New York

It’s wonderful. I’m at a conference for teachers and librarians that I sort of crashed… Why is every singly conference I go to nicer and better-appointed than comics shows? It’s a little depressing. Note to pubs: Splurge on some carpet, your feet (and mine) will thank you for it.

  1. Hi, Chris,

Everyone else’s place always looks better – the same rule applies to people’s homes too, don’t know why. Must be the interior design equivalent of the grass always being greener on the other side of the fence.

BTW, nothing to do with this post but I know if I email you it may be eaten by the filter monster and thought you might be interested since this is in your own backyard – just heard from a production company that shooting on a $20 million mini-series based on Van Hamme and Vance’s XIII comics (which just finished in France last week) is starting today in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, so you may get a chance to see Stephen Dorff and his fit bod 🙂 Be nice it it raised the profile with English language readers a bit more too, wouldn’t it? Details on the blog if you’re interested: http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/?p=5790

    Best,

  2. Cool! I think you were at the ALAN Conference. I was further upstate speaking at two school library systems conferences in Utica and Syracuse a couple of days earlier but had to fly home to Florida, couldn’t make it to ALAN. If you liked that, try the American Library Association Annual Conferences – graphic novel publishers have a BIG presence there! Oh yeah, I’m a librarian who specializes in graphic novels and in promoting the use of graphic novels and comics in schools and libraries.
